To anyone that doesn't know, my "stash" is nothing sinister, but merely something like my locker at work. It's my shelf where I can place anything from lotion to food to name tag to BOOKS. It's where I place all the many I must have items that come my way. When you work in a used bookstore, these items seem to be plentiful. Some weeks I find books I loved as a child and feel I must add to my library. Other weeks I discover fascinating non-fiction books. Occasionally I'll find a new fiction read, but mostly those are just books I've had recommended or books I've already read and want to own. So, on any given week I'm adding 1 or 2 or 12 items to my stash. This is troublesome when technically employees are to have no more than 20 item stashes. Almost all of us abuse this rule because there are too many intriguing options to pass up. Now, if you don't want to have to spend half your paycheck, we as employees are also allowed to check out items, almost like a library. This helps with viewing movies and listening to CDs. Still, I find myself using too much of my already small paycheck to buy books and anyone who has seen my bedroom knows that I have lots of books and I'm already out of room. But folks, I have delightful reads beckoning to me to be purchased and then added to the mounds of words already piled around my bookshelf. Did I mention I get an amazing dicount at work?
This is what my stash looked like a couple months ago when it was much more under control.
This is what my stash currently holds (bear in mind that because I'm doing this from memory, I might miss a couple items):*2 Travis CDs (I can't remember the titles)
*The Painted Veil DVD
*Becoming Jane DVD
*(2 other DVDs that I won't mention as they are intended for a gift in the future)
*The complete Pippi Longstocking with illustrations by Astrid Lindgrin
*Letters from E.B. White (this is an old book that I keep thinking I should put back on the shelf to sell, but I just love his writing style)
*2 or 3 books intended for the fiance and therefore will not be listed
*The Art of Marvel Comics (also for the fiance, but he already perused it)
*Writers on Writing (a collection of essays on writing, my current lunch time reading)
*The Time Quartet by Madeline L'Engle
*Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates (a beautifully bound book with color illustrations) by Mary Mapes Dodge
*Information Trapping (a book on relevant web-based research)
*The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan
*American Appetite: The Coming of Age of a National Cuisine by Leslie Brenner
*Real Food: What to Eat and Why by Nina Planck
*The Joy of Cooking
*A Dangerous Profession: A Book About the Writing Life by Frederick Busch
*Too Lazy to Work too Nervous to Steal: How to Have a Great Life as a Freelance Writer by John Clausen
*Libraries in the Ancient World by Lionel Casson
*Catopia: A Cat Compendium
*The Love of God by Oswald Chambers
*A fitness book
*And these three items don't fit on the shelf: Apples to Apples, Imaginiff, and The Annotated Charlotte's Web.
What am I going to do? I'm addicted to the written word. I don't intend to purchase every item mentioned, some are for lunch time reading or mere perusal, but still, this has gotten to be somewhat of a problem. Still, don't the books sound intriguing? So much to read!

You have some GREAT stuff listed! I would totally have the same problem...
Very fun post! You'll have to keep your eyes out for any great travel books/travel memoirs that you can give me the titles of. :)
Have I shown you the schematics for the hidden wall stash? I would have to initiate you into the secret order for you to have access to our vaulted collection. Even as an honorary member, I still have a stash there. Now you know. But can you pass the test? Time will tell. So many secrets...so many....treasures.
